Warm Greetings: My name is Sibby
My journey began in 1981 as a single parent of 3 year old. I came to
San Francisco Bay area in hopes of a new beginning. It was hard to leave my
family and friends in my native Ohio. It was a challenge to say the least.
At that time my main, and only concern, was the well-being of my son. As a
single parent, I quickly learned, first hand, the trials and challenges of
raising a child in today's society. One thing that became apparent to me was
the need for parents and children to have a sufficient support system in
place to help families in caring for their children.
After raising my son to adulthood, I still had a desire to be involved with
caring for, and helping to raise, children in the formative years. Initially,
I began by working with childcare providers who I knew had successful track
records,
I was working with a friend, (Tracy) who is a veteran of many years in the
childcare field, who said that I had a gift working with children. In 2002, I
became seriously interested in contributing to the well-being, and welfare,
of children. Especially children from a disadvantaged background,
This inspired me to undergo formal education and training in the field. I
started taking childcare classes. I started taking classes in Stockton CA,
traveling 72 miles round trip 2-3 times a week. I completed the Foster/Pride
Adopt Program in 2003. I also completed training and certification through
the Heritage Project in 2004. I'm a License Foster Parent, and I am also
certified by the state of California as a Rape Crisis Counselor and a
Domestic Violence Counselor. While completing my training, I completed
countless hours volunteering my time to children, and supporting different
childcare agencies.
My mission is to provide quality childcare in a stable and enriching
environment. To foster children in physical, social, emotional and cognitive
growth,
while providing a homelike atmosphere. To help both parents and their
children feel safe and secure and to support their families need to work.
I believe that we as adults should empower our children. We are the
children's voice for a better way of life that will impact us all in a beautiful
and positive way.
I have committed my experience, energy and skills
towards making this a reality.
